The Route
The Polar Challenge starts at Polaris in Canada and passes across the frozen Arctic ocean to the the Magnetic North Pole 1996 position and on to the finish line at Issachen Mine 350 nautical miles away from the start passing through Polar Bear Pass, Bathurst Island and King Christian Island.

There are 3 check points , 2 for re-supply where competitors must rest for a minimum of 12 hours taking with them new food and fuel supplies. The 3rd is actually the Magnetic North Pole 1996 position but as it is difficult for planes to land here , we must continue on for a further 25 miles to point near a dis-used air-strip.

Walk-In : Resolute Bay to Start Line at Polaris : 65 miles
Stage 1: Polaris to a Check Point 1, a point North-West of Bathhurst Island : 110 miles
Stage 2: Check Point 1 to Check Point 2 , a point near King Christian Island : 95 miles
Stage 3: Check Point 2 to Check Point 3, 1996 Magnetic North Pole position : 63 miles
